IBM Flying Club Events

Sunday 21st September 2008

13:00

The Zero Boys are back in town,,,,  :-)    and would like to invite "the IBM Flyers"  to join them for lunch and a relaxing afternoon watching the aeroplanes at the picturesque Compton Abbas airfield on Sunday 21 September.  Summer will have arrived by that time?

Some of us will be flying G-ZERO again from 1300, as trial flights with Abbas Air instructors, rekindling memories of many happy hours together. No doubt there will plenty of other flying going on to entertain.

Fly-in, drive in, bike in.. Bring a picnic or buy lunch at the restaurant. No formal organisation - easy come easy go - just another excuse to get-together, do a little flying, and while away a lazy Sunday afternoon!   :-)

Please  let me know if you are interested, Jon Butts

Wednesday 24th September 2008

10:15

I have obtained permission for 20 of us to visit RNAS Yeovilton.

This is purely a DRIVE IN and I will give active pilots priority mainly because of the ATC aspect.

Good news  - up to 30 people may attend and this event is open to all so please inundate me with your enthusiasm.

Plan:  Arrive in the car park at Yeovilton by 10:15 where we will be met and taken airside.  We will then see a DVD on the station, visit ATC, historic flight, another hangar (don't know the details of this) Lunch will be available and will cost £6 approx a head and I will need the numbers for catering. I'll also need your money as I'll be paying the bill!!  After lunch we should be visiting one of the squadrons but that is not yet confirmed.  Visit should finish by 15:00 which will give time to visit the museum also.

Please  let me know if you are interested, Clare

No particular time
Here is an offer to the IBM Flyers who are not themselves 'active pilots' anymore but who want to get airborne this summer.... It goes something like this:  You provide the excuse to go flying. i.e. name the place and the day for the IBM Fly-in you're interested in, say Cosford, Jersey or some such.  I will provide the aeroplane and flying services - you get front seat to the fly in with me, in a Cirrus out of Bournemouth/Blackbushe/Shoreham/Lee.  Other IBM Flyers get to join in with their aircraft too.

You don't have to organise anything in a heavyweight way. Keep it simple: name the place and the date, and provide a phone number for the other crews (to let you know on the day if they cancelled or not due weather). Booking in/ Passing on crew/aircraft  details to the RAF or whoever would be each crew's job, not yours.

Anyone is encouraged to organise an event - feel free to ask the committee if you need assistance.

Do not hesitate to advise the webmaster if you hear of anything that may be of interest.
